I registered in OCM about 11 years ago. I can't say that I have been playing this game for 11 years, as I took some brakes after disappointments, fails, or just getting bored. Last time I returned to OCM was last summer, after Attila Valter's great performance in Giro, which led me back to my love of cycling.
I returned to the game with a specific goal: I wanted to improve my very poor collection of Palmarès. Luckily, I found a talent quickly. I found Jachob Busk's potential perfect for Tour of the Sanreizan, which is the lowest division tour, so it is not hard to qualify for this race. It seemed to be a perfect match.
For the first two tries I got defeated in YC by 1 2 Cycle's Clayton Singletary and Junee Racing Team's Pyotr Lomtev. Both of them are incredible climbers, they rode the tour in top form, they were super strong, both of them won even the GC very well deserved. Surprisingly, Busk also finished 3rd place in SC both seasons, so I decided to give myself one last chance to win a Sanreizan jersey.
I knew if I want to beat riders like Singletary or Lomtev, it would take big efforts and sacrifices from me. It was clear that I cannot win a jersey without top form, so I had to leave my team to rest. In addition, after Tour of the Sanreizan #18 I gained very quickly enough points to be able to sign up for edition #19. It means I rested my team for ~70 days. Still, I was visiting OCM daily, signing sponsors, doing jobs, participating in practice races, etc. I even invested in a climbing frame to increase Busk's chances.
And finally, sign up day came. I signed up immediately as it was open. The second team who signed up was Junee with half dozen of top form ready good climbers. Including Lomtev of course... Tim did probably the very same thing as me, he seemed to be very motivated about defending Lomtev's titles. I was happy to see Tim signing up, even if it decreased my chances for the YC and GC titles. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best, I thought.
Stage 1: Algernon Joubert wins. (In the last 6 seasons winner of the first stage also won SC.)
2nd place for Jachob. Good start, 14-second-advantage ahead of Lomtev is nice, but it doesn't mean anything. Last season started the same way.
Stage 2: Pyotr Lomtev wins. (In the last 2 seasons winner of the second stage also won GC and YC.)
2nd place for Jachob. My team managed to save 6 seconds of his advantage ahead of Lomtev, which means Busk is taking the lead in GC and even in SC.
Stage 3: Jachob Busk wins for the first time in his career. Wow! After 22 results, finally a victory, when he needed the most. Busk gained only 2 seconds to Lomtev, but still, it is a promising result.
Stage 4: Lomtev wins and takes the lead in overall by 9 seconds. Busk finished second place, and scoring 10 more points in SC.
Of course, I started speculating before the last stage. 9 seconds is a big difference, it's hard to make it disappear on a sprinting stage (maybe impossible?). Anyway, it was a great fight between Lomtev and Busk, Pyotr won 2 stages, he deserves the title, we can still have the sprinter jersey.
The last stage is a 50-point stage.
Jachob has 70 points.
Lomtev 54, Joubert 45.
If Lomtev wins (which is very unlikely based on his SP stats and last season's result of stage 5), Busk must finish 3rd or better, by scoring at least 35 points.
If Joubert wins, he would have 95 points. In this case Busk must finish in top 5, by scoring at least 27 points.
I was optimistic, Jachob finished in top 5 on the last stage both of the two last seasons.
Stage 5: Algernon Joubert wins.
" Your team participated in Fuji to Tokyo. Didrik Nikolajsen finished 3 rd as your best rider. You earned 3.000 $.
Jachob Busk received an injury during the race."
NO. WAY.
Busk injured. Both of his lead-outs finished in top 5, which shows that he could have won SC easily without the injury.
Shit happens, right? But I started to think that Jachob Busk is cursed. He is an eternal second placer. How should I think that he will succeed in another tour, if he can't win anything in G division?
I started my press release that I quit this game several times after disappointments and fails. But this time I won't give up. I have to believe that sooner or later I will get a jersey or a trophy with Jachob.
I hope he will come back from this injury stronger than ever. Both physically and mentally.

what a battle.. at least you won’t have to worry about Lomtev for the YC next season
Noooooooo, what a drama indeed. You will come back stronger!! But hell what an unfortunate string of events! :( 2nd, 5th and 6th and very decent stageresults is something to be proud of, but still nothing in the palmares-site yes.
